Fish Translator is designed for every angler — including anglers with disabilities. Our target standard is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. We work toward compliance with this standard and honor the rights listed below.
Features Already Provided
- Keyboard navigation: All primary actions are reachable with Tab / Shift+Tab / Enter
- Screen reader support: Semantic HTML, ARIA labels on icon buttons, landmarks on every page
- High-contrast mode: Available in accessibility settings
- Font size toggle: 4 size tiers via
/assets/js/accessibility-settings.js - Alt text on content images
- Visible focus rings on all interactive elements
- Skip-to-main-content link on every audited page
- Reduced-motion respected via
prefers-reduced-motionmedia query
Known Limitations
- Video captions are still being added to older content — new videos ship with captions
- Some legacy pages predate the audit; we are bringing them up to parity in the current wave
- Third-party partner content displayed on our site (e.g., Bass Pro Shops product images) follows the partner’s accessibility practices
How to Report an Issue
Please email translatorseries2021@gmail.com with subject line Accessibility. Include:
- The page URL
- A short description of the issue
- Your assistive technology if relevant (screen reader name/version, OS)
We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within three business days.
Compliance Statement
We work toward WCAG 2.1 AA compliance and respect the rights users have under applicable accessibility laws (including the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 508). We do not claim perfect compliance today — this is a continuous program.
